Øyvind Hjelmen — The small print
Size matters. We see it everywhere, big is beautiful. Large scale works of art. But so too does small size matter. The title of this series is of course reflecting the size of the prints, 2,5 x 2,5 cm. In a time where most of the images we see is on a screen, I feel it important to produce something tangible, intimate, something small enough to hold in the hand, to touch. Kept in a small hand made box, these small prints can serve as a reminder of the distance we tend to put between ourselves and what we see. The Small Print can give intimate moments of small wonders.
All images are photographed at Halsnøy Monastery, in Norway. They show small scenes where the common denominator is light; natural light, electric light, divine light, or light as captured by Daguerre..
