Komplot and Parallel /// Oaxaca curate Are You Thinking About Atlantis? presenting works by Aline Bouvy and David Evrard from Brussels and associating with Noah Barker, Thimothy James Kelly and Puppies Puppies from Lodos Contemporáneo (Mexico City / Chicago); Stefan Benchoam from Proyectos Ultravioleta (Guatemala).

The exhibition came together as the experience of a week at Material Art Fair, where our views on the works fled from different directions both in conceptual and physical topologies back and forth from Brussels, Chicago, Oaxaca and Guatemala City. Spontaneous and reactive, this curatorial gesture gives a discreet insight on art scenes from the three continents.

Are You Thinking About Atlantis? collides the presence of works with a dissolution of discourse with pieces relating to waves, steam, water, smoke, carbonate structures and dispersed scenarios, which may as well dwell into philosophical geometries or remain just as contemplative states towards formal shaping.

Are You Thinking About Atlantis? (Estás pensando en la Atlántida?) es una exposición curada por Komplot y Parallel /// Oaxaca, quienes presentan obras de Aline Bouvy y David Evrard, de Bruselas, junto con el trabajo de Noah Barker, Thimothy James Kelly y Puppies Puppies de Lodos Contemporáneo (Mexico D.F. / Chicago) y Stefan Benchoam, miembro de Proyectos Ultravioleta (Guatemala).

La exposición se construye a partir de la experiencia vivida durante una semana en Material Art Fair (Ciudad de México), donde seleccionamos un compendio de piezas que transitan un amplio espectro desde lo conceptual hasta lo físico, en un viaje de ida y vuelta entre Bruselas, Chicago, Oaxaca y la Ciudad de Guatemala. Espontáneo y reactivo, éste ejercicio subjetivo de curaduría se propone ahondar en ciertas escenas artísticas sobre tres continentes.

Are You Thinking About Atlantis? contrapone la presencia material de las obras con una disolución discursiva a través de piezas que hablan de olas, corrientes, agua, humo, estructuras carbonizadas y escenarios dispersos, las cuales quizás habiten en geometrías filosóficas o permanezcan como meros estados contemplativos de una cierta organización formal.
